  I don't really think "British pub" when I think of Monterrey, but Crown and Anchor is seriously worth your time. The decor is fun, with British Navy swag all over the place, covering the walls and bar. The waiters are really nice and helpful and the drinks are really good. Now, I know what you're thinking. "But isn't the food in Britain awful?" You may be right, but the food at Crown and Anchor is phenomenal, and they have a really nice mix of traditional English food and a smattering of other options that won't break your bank. And it's open late! It's the perfect place to end your night with either some specialty cocktails, a beer and some food. Only warning is that it fills up fast, so be prepared. There is outdoor seating available, but Monterrey does get pretty chilly after dark (or during the daytime), so maybe bring a coat just in case. It's also just a 5 minute walk from the wharf, so there's no reason not to show up! It does get loud, especially at nights, so I'm not sure how great it would be for kids. But seriously, I can't recommend this place enough. Check it out!

  Delicious food. Old English decor. Rarely do you go someplace new and have a "best of" experience, but this was one of those times. My wife ordered fish and chips and I ordered clam chowder and fried artichoke hearts. The fried cod was probably the best I've ever had and the chowder the best I've had in a restaurant. Friendly staff. Decent price. We also ordered an ale and our bill was $42 plus tip. Highly recommended. *The one caveat was that you have to walk through the smoking porch to get into the restaurant which offended my wife's sense of smell.
