  FastRaft has all the good things going for it. Our group left from Moss Landing, which I find less crowded and more accessible from San Jose than Monterey proper. The boat itself is small - six passengers and two crew - giving you maximum visibility of the water and wildlife. Captain Kate and Don are knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the whales and the local ecology. Call ahead for a reservation for a personal experience you won't get with larger outfits.
